Restful Sleep Herbal Tea

This calming and sedative tea blend helps relax the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote deep, restorative sleep.


Ingredients (per cup):

  • 1 teaspoon Chamomile flowers (Matricaria chamomilla) – Calms the nervous system and promotes relaxation
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Balm leaves (Melissa officinalis) – Reduces anxiety and supports restful sleep
  • 1 teaspoon Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) – Helps with insomnia and racing thoughts
  • ½ teaspoon Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) – Natural sedative to improve sleep quality
  • ½ teaspoon Lavender flowers (Lavandula angustifolia) – Soothes stress and promotes deep sleep
  • ½ teaspoon Hops flowers (Humulus lupulus) – Enhances sleep and reduces restlessness
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Combine the Herbs:
    • Mix all dried herbs together and store in an airtight container.
  2. Brew the Tea:
    • Place 1 tablespoon of the tea blend in a teapot or infuser.
    • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the herbs.
    • Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Strain & Serve:
    • Strain out the herbs and drink warm 30–60 minutes before bed.
    • Optional: Add honey for extra relaxation benefits.

How to Use:

  • Drink 1 cup nightly to support restful sleep.
  • If you wake up during the night, a small second cup may help you fall back asleep.

Alternative Additions:

  • Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) – Reduces stress and balances cortisol levels.
  • Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) – Soothes overactive thoughts and nervous tension.
  • Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) – Adds warmth and supports circulation for relaxation.

Precautions:

  • Valerian root can cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery after drinking.
  • Hops may not be suitable for individuals with depression—omit if needed.
  • Consult a healthcare provider before use if pregnant, nursing, or on sleep medications.
