  • 1 part Echinacea root (Echinacea purpurea) – Strengthens the immune system and shortens illness duration
  • 1 part Astragalus root (Astragalus membranaceus) – Adaptogen that enhances immune function and resilience
  • ½ part Ginger root (Zingiber officinale) – Anti-inflammatory and supports digestion and circulation
  • ½ part Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – Soothes the respiratory system and supports immunity
  • ½ part Rose Hips (Rosa canina) – High in Vitamin C for immune support
  • 80-proof (40%) vodka or food-grade alcohol (enough to cover herbs)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Herbs

  • Chop fresh herbs or measure out dried herbs into a clean glass jar.

Step 2: Add Alcohol

  • Fill the jar halfway with dried herbs (or ¾ full if using fresh).
  • Pour vodka or brandy over the herbs until fully submerged, ensuring at least 1 inch of liquid above the herbs.

Step 3: Infusion Process

  • Seal the jar tightly and shake well.
  • Store in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks, shaking the jar daily to help extract the herbal properties.

Step 4: Strain & Bottle

  • After at least 4 weeks, strain the tincture through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer.
  • Squeeze out all liquid from the herbs to maximize extraction.
  • Pour the finished tincture into dark glass dropper bottles for storage.

Dosage & Use:

  • Daily Maintenance: Take 30–60 drops (1–2 droppers full) in water, tea, or juice once daily.
  • During Illness or High Exposure: Increase to 2–3 times daily for extra immune support.

Alternative Additions:

  • Turmeric root (Curcuma longa) – Adds anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
  • Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) – Supports respiratory health.
  • Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) – Calms the nervous system while boosting immunity.

Precautions:

  • Echinacea is best used for 6–8 weeks, then take a 1-week break to maintain effectiveness.
  • Licorice root may raise blood pressure—omit if hypertensive.
  • Consult a healthcare provider before use if pregnant, nursing, or on medications.
