Stress-Relief & Sleep Herbal Tea

This calming and sedative tea blend helps reduce stress, relax the nervous system, and promote deep, restful sleep.


Ingredients (per cup):

  • 1 teaspoon Chamomile flowers (Matricaria chamomilla) – Soothes the nervous system and reduces anxiety
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Balm leaves (Melissa officinalis) – Calms the mind and promotes relaxation
  • 1 teaspoon Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) – Helps with stress-induced insomnia and racing thoughts
  • ½ teaspoon Lavender flowers (Lavandula angustifolia) – Reduces stress and tension
  • ½ teaspoon Holy Basil (Tulsi) (Ocimum sanctum) – Adaptogen that balances cortisol and reduces stress
  • ½ teaspoon Ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera) – Lowers cortisol levels and promotes deep sleep
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Combine the Herbs:
    • Mix all dried herbs together and store in an airtight container.
  2. Brew the Tea:
    • Place 1 tablespoon of the tea blend in a teapot or infuser.
    • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the herbs.
    • Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Strain & Serve:
    • Strain out the herbs and drink warm 30–60 minutes before bed.
    • Optional: Add honey for extra relaxation.

How to Use:

  • Drink 1 cup in the evening for stress relief and better sleep.
  • If dealing with high stress or chronic sleep issues, drink 2 cups daily—one in the afternoon and one before bed.

Alternative Additions:

  • Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) – Strong natural sedative, great for severe insomnia (use in small amounts).
  • Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) – Helps quiet a restless mind and reduce tension.
  • Rose petals (Rosa spp.) – Adds a gentle floral note and emotional calming properties.

Precautions:

  • Valerian root can cause drowsiness—omit if sensitive.
  • Ashwagandha should be avoided during pregnancy unless advised by a doctor.
  • Check with a healthcare provider before use if taking medications for anxiety or sleep.
